Chillida's interest in a range of materials and in public works is clear. In Gasteiz Chillida developed a schema of how the plaza de los Fueros in Vitoria should look after his intervention at the site in tandem with an architect from Oñati called Luis Peña Ganchegui. He made the sculpture in that particular translucent material that allowed him to let light into the inside of the sculpture and construct beautifully rigorous architectural shapes. [Javier Viar]
